You’ll find this Parador tucked away in the historic core of Lleida, one of the oldest towns in Catalonia. The premises, which once served as a convent and a church, have been converted in such a way that many of the original features remain, including the central cloister, which has plenty of sofas and armchairs where you can relax and soak up your historic surroundings.
That sense of historical character is less evident in the guest rooms and suites, which are more modern in style – all of them smart, spacious, tastefully furnished and equipped with free Wi-Fi access and air conditioning.
The restaurant, L’Aplec, is an extraordinary venue in which to savour the flavours of authentic Catalan cuisine, occupying an old church building which has been spruced up and converted into a truly stunning dining space.
You’ll find Lleida’s imposing hilltop cathedral, La Seu Villa, just a 10-minute stroll away, while the Gothic-style Palace of La Paeria (now functioning as the City Hall) and the tree-lined promenade that runs along the banks of the Segre river are also easily reachable on foot.
