Tenerife’s south has long been lauded for its year-round sun and golden-sands beauty. And, this curated itinerary will see you take it all in with a stay in one of the Canaries’ finest properties, enjoying the likes of Michelin-standard dining and a private beach club. However, you’ll also want to explore. With private transfers and private touring included throughout, you’ll enjoy dinner with an astronomer, go whale watching while sipping cava and pair tapas with wine in local vineyards. Of course, there’s plenty of time to yourself, whether you want to hike in national parks or indulge with spa treatments.

Day 1

Depart UK

Begin in style with a complimentary airport-lounge access before your flight to Tenerife. Then, once arrived, you’ll be met by a private driver for the short hop along the coast to your luxury hotel.

Here, you’ll settle into your delightfully Mediterranean room, all handcrafted ceramics, ornamental plasterwork and private-balcony views of lush tropical gardens or the glittering sea. Villas and butler-served upgrades also feature everything from pillow menus to a courtesy bar. Think complimentary cava and canapés.

Days 2 – 4

Days at leisure

Today, you’ll have plenty of time to unwind and get your bearings. Of course, the golden sands of the private beach club are a special highlight, but you might also want to sun yourself by one of your resort’s gorgeous pools, or book onto one of the world-class spa treatments.

The dining on offer is a further highlight, with everything from pan-Asian delicacies and Italian favourites to French fine dining from a Michelin-star-winning chef. Be sure to cap it all off with a cocktail at one of the stylish bars or lounges.

You might want to head out and explore. The next-door Teide Volcano is a UNESCO-listed gem, where hikes and cable-car rides lead between laurisilva forests and majestic cliffs. Alternatively, hit the waters, with everything from surfing to scuba-diving on offer.

That said, there are plenty of amenities back at base. Alongside the classes and state-of-the-art equipment of the 24-hour gym, there’s also tennis, paddle and squash courts as well as a pitch and putt course.

Day 5

Wine tastings, volcanoes and old-town charm

Today you'll contrast historic towns, national-park beauty and terraced vineyards. In the company of an expert private guide, you'll be driven up into the Teide National Park, watching as pine trees fade into lunar-like volcanic landscapes. As you admire the lava fields, you'll pause for stunning views across the island and a coffee at a parador lodge before stopping at La Oratova.

This gorgeous old town is a fairytale of palaces, 17th-century balconied houses and historic botanic gardens. It's all capped off with a visit to a pair of wineries, where you'll enjoy tapas dining in a Canarian mansion and a sommelier-guided tasting in Bodegas Monje – arguably the island's finest winery. At the end of it all, you'll be brought back to your accommodation.

Day 6

Day at leisure

For your last day at leisure, you might want to tear yourself away from your sun lounger to explore.

On Tenerife, there are fantastic hikes in the Anaga Mountains, intriguing lava tunnels to uncover and yacht expeditions to charter, taking in secluded viewpoints. Then, perhaps finish the day with a cocktail in the piano bar.

Day 7

Stargazing

After a leisurely morning, you will be brought out into the UNESCO-listed Las Cañadas – a national park characterised by a unique lunar landscape. You’ll also pause at the monolithic Chinyero Volcano, which last erupted in 1909, before you take in the view of the three-kilometre-high Mt. Teide from the unique rock formation of Roques de Garcia. After watching the sun set over the Canary Islands, you’ll then marvel as the night’s sky comes alive with thousands of stars, planets and galaxies.

Thanks to the high altitude and low light pollution, this is one of the best places to stargaze.

About the itinerary

"I designed this itinerary to showcase the hidden delights of southern Tenerife, to create a luxury itinerary where you can combine relaxation in one of the finest resorts on the island with private hand-picked experiences, based on personal recommendations. Expect everything from Michelin-standard dining in hidden locations and exclusive wine-tasting experiences to private guided excursions into little-known historic towns and national-park locations. The chance to watch whales and dolphins breach around you from a private catamaran is a special highlight. It all then culminates with a stargazing dinner on Mount Teide, with the resident astronomer filling you in on all the secrets of the sky."
