In more detail

The lodge has been fully refurbished throughout, adding in rich Rwandan fabrics, elegant fireplaces and luxuriously appointed en suites complete with standalone showers and double vanities. What's more, each room has its own private terrace to really make the most of those dramatic national-park views. It all serves to ramp up the comfort levels, making this one of the country's finest bases for gorilla tracking.

The food here is also excellent, a real highlight with a wide range of delicious meals showcasing local ingredients, where possible, and served around a large, wooden communal table. Adding to the appeal, the restaurant boasts magnificent views across Lake Ruhondo and the Bulera and Virunga volcanoes.
