In more detail

From its lofty granite outcrop amid an ancient landscape sculpted by volcanic activity, Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp places you at the heart of one of nature’s great spectacles. Before you, acacia-studded savannah and wooded grasslands are teeming with wildlife, while this remote, privileged location offers intimate sightings and a personal, unhurried safari experience.

Harking back to a bygone era, 12 luxurious tents provide the perfect blend of comfort and adventure. Think queen beds draped with mosquito nets and plush throw carpets. En-suite bathrooms with flushing toilets, solar-heated showers and copper taps complete the picture, while the canvas walls draw back, allowing you to soak up the Serengeti landscape while watching passing wildlife.

Despite the high-impact safari experience, Serengeti Pioneer Camp sits lightly on the land, with a zero footprint that relies on solar power and local products. Perched atop the kopje, a central open-sided lounge offers seating along with a bar and restaurant, all oriented towards those vast Serengeti panoramas. A plunge pool provides the ideal spot for cooling off between adventures.

The wildlife-rich landscapes are best discovered on early morning and late afternoon game drives, offering superb opportunities to spot the Big Five along with huge herds of zebra, wildebeest and gazelles during the Great Migration. Balloon safaris (bookable in advance) offer the experience of a lifetime, while bush picnics, cocktails on the sunset deck and campfire dining immerse you in the sights and sounds of the Serengeti at its most atmospheric.
