Belmond Das Cataratas enjoys an unparalleled location a short stroll away from the spectacular Igassu Falls. As the only hotel inside Brazil’s Igassu National Park guests can enjoy exclusive access to the magnificent waterfalls at dusk and dawn when the park is closed to other visitors. The hotel is set inside an attractive Portuguese-Colonial residence with a calming and palliative ambience that harks back to quieter, more relaxing times. The beautiful rooms and suites are decorated in a classic Portuguese style, with dark-wood furnishings accented with pops of colour in the linens and specially commissioned artworks by acclaimed Brazilian artist Ludmilla de Montes. Rooms are bright and airy with tall ceilings and have comfortable queen beds, a fully-stocked minibar and spacious bathrooms with bespoke tiles and luxurious amenities. Some of the rooms have spectacular views of the waterfalls and the elegant suites have one or two bedrooms and marbled bathrooms, as well as a spacious living room. The hotel has extensive leisure facilities, including a beautifully designed swimming pool and smaller children’s pool as well as an archery range, tennis and volleyball courts. There’s also an air-conditioned gym facing the pool and a picturesque spa with a range of cleansing and rejuvenating therapies that celebrate the energy of the Amazon. There are two fabulous restaurants, the poolside Ipê Grill that serves delicious buffet breakfasts first thing, and then tantalising ‘gaucho’ style Brazilian barbecues after dark, and fine dining Itaipu Restaurant with a terrace you can view the cascading waters from.
