Journey between Norway's stunning western fjords and historic cities on this luxury cruise aboard Silversea's Silver Dawn, with stylish accommodation, exquisite cuisine and first-class service throughout. It all begins in Denmark's cool, laid-back capital, Copenhagen, where you'll have a chance to explore its charming neighbourhoods, visit the iconic Nyhavn canal and experience its buzzing nightlife. You'll then set sail heading north, calling in at the ports of Vik, Olden and Åndalsnes as you take in the magnificent scenery of the fjords, with opportunities to hike and kayak along the way. Your northernmost stop is Trondheim, the ancient Viking capital and Norway's third largest city today, before looping back down south to Ålesund, renowned for its delightful Art Nouveau architecture and cobbled streets. Finally, your adventure concludes in Bergen, with a chance to explore its UNESCO World Heritage-listed Hanseatic wharf and ride the famous Fløibanen funicular.
Your holiday begins with complimentary airport lounge access before boarding your flight from the UK to Copenhagen. On arrival, a private transfer will take you to your elegant city centre hotel, housed within a beautifully renovated former post office building next to Tivoli Gardens. It features a heated outdoor pool, a sauna, a classy brasserie restaurant and even its own artisan bakery. After settling into your stylish accommodation, the rest of the day is yours to spend at leisure.
Begin your day with a delicious buffet breakfast at Villa Copenhagen, featuring freshly baked bread and pastries from the in-house bakery. The rest of the day is then free for you to explore the Danish capital at your own pace. It's a fairly compact city which is easily explored either on foot or by bike. Be sure to make a stop at Nyhavn, the 17th-century canal lined with colourful townhouses that provide an endless stream of photo opportunities, and take a stroll along Strøget, the shop-lined pedestrian street that runs right through the historic centre. It's also well worth climbing the Round Tower for fabulous views overlooking the city and on a clear day, even as far as the Øresund Bridge, which connects Denmark with Sweden. Each neighbourhood has a distinct character of its own, from the charming canals of Christianshavn to the hip bars and cafes of Nørrebro and the offbeat, post-industrial energy of Vesterbro. In the evening, take your pick from Copenhagen's vast array of world-class restaurants – it's a city that prides itself on its scintillating culinary scene.
Breakfast included
You'll have some more time to explore Copenhagen today, perhaps paying a visit to Tivoli Gardens, the Kastellet citadel, the Botanical Garden or the Torvehallerne covered market – there really is no end of things to see and do here. Later on, a private transfer will take you to the port, where you'll board the Silver Dawn and have some time to settle into your accommodation before enjoying your first dinner on board. The ship will then depart Copenhagen in the evening.

The scenery certainly doesn't become any less impressive today as you sail along the Romsdalsfjord to Åndalsnes, a town once renowned as a major hub for salmon fishing and now regarded as the 'capital of Norwegian mountaineering'. There are plenty of onshore excursions to choose from here, including a journey along the spectacular Troll Road (one of Norway's steepest and windiest mountain passes), a scenic ride on the Rauma Railway or a hike to the Rampestreken mountain viewpoint. Alternatively, if you're looking for something a little more relaxed, you could take a trip to a nearby rural farm to learn how to make traditional 'svele' (Norwegian pancakes).

The the hilltop Kristiansten Fortress, built in the aftermath of the great fire in 1681 to protect the city from attacks from the east, offers superb views of the city from above.
