Zadar, Croatia

Located on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, Zadar is rich in history. Ruled at various times by the Romans, Ostrogoths, and Byzantium, the city became a major commercial centre and a naval power in its heyday that rivalled Venice. Today, Zadar’s architecture, culture and history draw visitors from all over the world, as does the nearby Plitvice National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 3

Medieval treasures in Kotor

Anchor in to Montenegro and the coastal beauty of Kotor today, home to grand Venetian mansions and pretty stone churches hidden among the cobbled streets. It's all best discovered with a walking tour to see Kotor’s walled Old Town and the 12th-century Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, or you could even enjoy a cooking class in a historic family estate or go mussel tasting by speed boat. Then, tonight, perhaps sample La Veranda back on board for the likes of spice-crusted tuna steak with a perfectly paired Tuscan wine. Finish the night at the Constellation Theatre for everything from full-scale musical revues to classical soloists, or get a taste of Monte Carlo at the casino.

Corfu's island idyll

Explore the lush island of Corfu today, with highlights including tours of the region's many palaces and relaxing on the secluded beaches. You could even explore on a thrilling 4x4 adventure that winds through ancient villages and ends among the pine trees and olive groves of Mount Pantokrator. Ancient history in Sparta

Sail to the ancient seaport of Sparta, now know as Gythion, today, home to white-sand beaches and ancient treasures. Visit the famed Theatre, which still houses the ruins of the Temple of Athena, the Gates of Castorides and the Archaeological Museum of Gythion before an al fresco seafood lunch in a traditional ouzerie. We’d highly recommend making time for an optional Gourmet Explorer Tour at any of the ports that'll see you shop at local markets in the company of a knowledgeable local expert, tour the kitchens of renowned chefs and dine at gourmet, award-winning restaurants.

Day 7

Wonders of the Ancient World in Ephesus, Turkey

Sail to Ephesus today, once one of the largest cities in the Roman Empire and home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Temple of Artemis. Explore the ruins of the Theatre, Temple of Hadrian and the magnificent Celsus Library with an expert archaeologist that will allow you to see parts of Ephesus normally off-limits to visitors. There's also the chance to visit the site that's thought to be the last home of the Virgin Mary, the Ephesus Archaeological Museum and the ancient sites of Priene, Miletus and Didyma's theatre, Roman baths and stadium.

Mykonos, Greece

Steeped in Greek mythology, Mykonos was named after Apollo’s grandson, Mykons, and was the site of the historic battle between Zeus and the Gigantes. Today, this island is one of Greece’s most adored destinations due to its picture-postcard setting and lively nightlife. Mykonos is a superb example of Cycladic architecture, and by law even new buildings have to be built in the same whitewashed, organic style. Be sure to allow time for a visit to picturesque Little Venice, the unique Paraportiani church, and the archeological dig at Delos.
