While the hotel may feel far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, many of the major sights are within a 10-15 minute taxi ride, including the likes of Gangaramaya Temple, Independence Square, Pettah Market and Galle Face Green – so you’ll be ideally placed for exploring as well as relaxing.
With just seven suites in total, there’s a distinctly homely and intimate feel about the place. Each one is spacious, sophisticated and tastefully furnished, with three different categories to choose from. Deluxe suites open out to the inner courtyard, while the ultra suites are split across the ground floor and upper floor, and come with either a garden terrace or a private balcony. There’s just one master suite, which is the largest of them all and offers the extra indulgence of a grand four-poster bed, a private screened courtyard and a plush living room.
Delectable local and fusion fare is served outdoors at The Verandah, which doubles up as a relaxed venue for coffee, tea, cakes and pastries throughout the day. The hotel also offers several private dining spaces which can be reserved for exclusive use, including an air-conditioned dining room with a sparkling chandelier and a 16-person ebony table and a warmly-lit pavilion in the corner of the garden.
For quiet moments of contemplation, feel free to find yourself a cosy spot on the leather sofas of the Cigar Room, or unwind in the courtyard while soaking up the sun on a lounge bed. There’s a lap pool, too – perfect for cooling off with a refreshing dip at any time of the day.
