Highlights

  • Visit the Palmwag Concession, home to Africa’s largest black rhino population
  • Discover desert-adapted wildlife and numerous shipwrecks in the Skeleton Coast National Park
  • Meet indigenous Himba people in Namibia’s remote far north
  • Cover vast distances on scenic light-aircraft flights

Have you ever trekked through the desert to see local herdsmen round up cattle in a sunset cloud of dust? Or drifted across an endless expanse of terracotta sand in a light aircraft, before sweeping out across the Atlantic? This safari will take you through the deserts of Namibia, starting in the Palmwag Concession where the largest population of black rhino in Africa roam, before venturing into the wild Hoanib area, famed for its desert-adapted wildlife. Then, visit the Skeleton Coast, burial site of unwary Atlantic ships, before venturing to the Kunene River to meet the nomadic Himba people. All the while, scenic flights, luxury camps and included game drives will provide the backdrop for a truly spectacular holiday.

A further private transfer will bring you to your luxury camp where Meru-style tents look out to stunning views of the desert and distant Etendeka Mountains. Here, you'll discover the largest free-roaming population of desert-adapted black rhino in Africa, and begin to feel the undeniable pull of the wilderness as you embark on game drives and walking safaris.

Track rhinoceros both from a vehicle and on foot, and embark on night game drives as well, where you can feel the wakeful energy of big cats and bush babies even in the deep blackness of the Namibian night.

Fall into the dark romance of the Skeleton Coast

Today, fly north to the dramatic Skeleton Coast National Park and your next desert camp. During your stay, take time to explore the Skeleton Coast itself.

It's among southern Africa’s wildest and most surreal destinations, covered with a thick sweep of ochre sands broken up by the occasional ghostly shipwreck.
