Rui was born and raised in South Africa, and although he moved to the UK over 20 years ago has managed to keep hold of his imitable accent. His far-reaching travel experience – over 18 years – encompasses the Indian Subcontinent, Africa, the Far East and North America. His native love for South Africa has made him a font of knowledge and advice on the best places to visit and stay. The neighbouring nations of Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique are all firmly amongst his favourites, though his love for the USA and Vietnam make it impossible for him to pick a standout country.
