North Island only takes up two granite kilometres amidst a limpid ocean, but the sense of space and privacy here is glorious. Not only is there any number of postcard perfect beaches to revel in, the villas are huge and airy, with private plunge pools. Ten have two bedrooms, the eleventh is dedicated to couples and romance. Carefully crafted from local wood, elegantly decked out with hardwood floors, fine linen and driftwood art, each sits right beside a sugar white beach. It’s not unknown for turtles to make their way across the sands. In fact, the island is rich in fauna including resident ancient tortoises.
Kayaking trips over almost transparent water to secluded beaches often involve clear glimpses of rays and tropical fish and dolphins at close distance. The resort offers every variation of water sports and bespoke experiences. Of these dining is among the most fun, with no set menu at the Piazza, seconds away from the surf. Instead chefs create anything requested, which frequently involves freshly landed seafood. Or the staff will organise dinner on sandy shores or on the deck of your villa. Service is as impeccable as the fine sandy beaches.
