In more detail

Rural Sardinian retreats don’t come much more authentic than the Su Gologone Experience Hotel, which prides itself on preserving local tradition to create a charming and relaxing sanctuary for guests on the slopes of the Supramonte mountains. Having started out as a restaurant in 1967, it has modernised to become a full-spectrum experience hotel, while staying true to the culture and principles that make it so unique.

The rooms and suites – much like the communal spaces – are quirky, playful and colourful, incorporating local artwork and textiles into their design, including some pieces of furniture handmade in Su Gologone’s own workshop.

Culinary excellence is part of the fabric here, with three restaurants – Il Nido del Pane, l'Orto, and Sos Nido – each showcasing a different side to traditional Sardinian home-cooking, from freshly baked, wood-fired bread to spit-roasted meats and vegetables sourced from the hotel’s own gardens. The patio, terrace and gazebo bars, meanwhile, are just as delightful.

Not only can you look forward to indulging in exquisite food, you can also learn how to make it for yourself by joining a cooking class focused around handmade bread and pasta. Other experiences available to book include wine tasting, mountain hiking, cycling tours, kayaking, ceramics workshops and guided yoga and meditation. In the evenings, enjoy star gazing, movies at the open air cinema, or folk music and dance performances.

When you’re not busy enjoying the plethora of activities on offer, there’s no shortage of quiet spots in which to relax within the hotel grounds, or you can cool off in the 25-metre outdoor pool, which is fed by a nearby natural spring.
