In more detail

The hotel’s surroundings are calm and quiet, while still being within striking distance of downtown. Elegant Art Nouveau and Empire-style buildings line the streets, which are dotted with hip cafes, antique stores and vintage clothing shops. The gleaming white, Neoclassical-style Helsinki Cathedral and Senate Square are a mere 5-10 minute stroll away, and if you continue just a little further you’ll arrive at the harbour, home to the Market Square, Old Market Hall and the Allas Sea Pool complex.

Each of the hotel’s 117 guest rooms is uniquely designed, exuding an ambience of refinement and opulence, with features including spa-style bathrooms, chandeliers, dimmable lighting and ultra-comfortable beds with premium down feather duvets. For extra space and the enticing option of an in-room sauna or steam room, consider upgrading to one of the majestic suites.

At the signature restaurant, Lilja, quality Finnish ingredients are paired with French-inspired techniques to create a truly exquisite dining experience, complemented by a superb wine selection and a classy, intimate setting. Choose from the à la carte menu, or, if you’re struggling to pick, opt for the chef’s menu for a full-spectrum sensory treat. Breakfast is a similarly lavish affair, with an extensive buffet and the option of à la carte dishes cooked to order. There’s also the more casual Garden Terrace, where you can enjoy delectable brasserie-style plates in a glass-walled winter garden filled with greenery, plush sofas and hanging lanterns, or in the outdoor courtyard when weather permits. Head over to the glistening white Bar Maria, meanwhile, for expertly-mixed cocktails, champagne and caviar, soundtracked by live piano music.

Serene relaxation awaits at the Maria Spa, where warm and cold plunge pools, a sauna and a steam room invite you to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Fancy treating yourself to a pampering session? The Wellness Concierge will take care of your every need, whether you’re in the mood for a reinvigorating massage, a facial or a skin treatment, delivered by expert therapists using luxury Biologique Recherche beauty products.
