Board your flight to Ivalo, enjoy a transfer to your hotel for the next three nights, the stunning Javri Lodge. Once the Lapland residence of Finland’s longest serving president – a fact that's unsurprising once inside is revealed – this is Scandi luxury at its very best, all log-wood walls and field stone fireplaces adorned with fur-trimmed accents and sprawling ceilings. Rooms are cosy and timber-walled – or, for a truly special trip, opt for one of the new panoramic Sky View cabins.

Here, spectacular snow-dusted vistas are framed by floor-to-ceiling windows and a rustic-chic ambience, with pared-back concrete walls that luxuriously contrast with sleek black panelling and contemporary finishes. There's also a timber-clad dining room, where you'll enjoy the first of your included dinners. The produce plucked directly from nearby Lake Inari is paired with an excellent selection of world-class wines.

After breakfast each day, choose from a selection of activities that are included in your stay here. Perhaps strap on your skis for some cross-country fun through the remote tundra, or for a more thrilling escapade there is a snowmobile safari. Optional additional excursions include gliding through the silent firs accompanied by Lapland's most emblematic antlered resident, or an exhilarating husky safari (supplement applies). Included lunches can be enjoyed back in the cosy lodge or in the frozen wilderness by an open fire.

It's all a wonderful prelude to leisurely, multi-course dinners before a a dip in the heated indoor swimming pool and soak in the sauna, culminating your nights with a search of that magical aurora – perhaps via snowmobile.

After breakfast, transfer back to Ivalo airport for your flight back to the UK.
