The name might be Scottish castle, and the golf course could be in the glens, but The Kinloch Club is lined with contemporary chic and immersed in a beautiful part of New Zealand’s North Island. Local stone was used in the building of the main lodge, and texture is a key theme throughout, from the handmade rugs in each bedroom to the brass, copper and velvet touches in the welcoming Great Room to the silver and gold tones and slate floors in The Den and the leather and rock and burnt wood flooring in the stylish bar. Gleaming oak features in all the bedrooms, which range from junior suites to two-bedroom villas, all with expansive views and freestanding baths. The emphasis is as much on comfort as it is on style, and the spa offers a wide range of treatments. A tennis court serves as an alternative to the glorious golf course, and a pool and spa are due to open soon.
