Acacia Cliffs Lodge is a luxury boutique lodge set on a two hectare site above Lake Taupo, home to a diverse array of native plants and birds. The region plays host to remarkable hiking, notably the world heritage Tongariro Alpine Crossing, and there is also first-rate golf and trout fishing in the area. Back at base the lodge, designed by a leading New Zealand architect, features cleverly planned angles, massive floor-to-ceiling windows and glass-panelled balconies to take advantage of the spectacular panoramic views of Lake Taupo, Mount Tauhara and the Kaimanawa mountain range. There are just four, exceptional suites, three facing the lake with private deck and one garden side with a beautiful courtyard. All are generous in size and have super king or twin beds with feather and down beddings and a pillow menu to ensure a great night’s sleep! The luxurious ensuite bathrooms feature twin vanities and rainforest showers and the Mapara Suite also has a free-standing soaking tub. The dining at Acacia Cliffs is where the hotel comes into its own. The owner Rick is a superb cook and fabulous three-course evening meals, made from fresh, seasonal produce and accompanied by well-chosen New Zealand wines, are available by arrangement. Included in your stay is a bottle of New Zealand wine upon arrival, and pre-dinner drinks and canapés each evening, as well as full gourmet breakfasts best enjoyed from one of the sun-drenched decks. The welcoming guest lounge is an ideal place to enjoy good wine and good conversation with your fellow guests and convivial hosts.
