As you’d expect from a hotel in a town celebrated for its food, the restaurant here is first rate. Start the day with a generous buffet breakfast or signature eggs benedict washed down with barista-made coffee while at lunch, there’s everything from light-bites to gourmet burgers. It’s in the evenings, however, when things get really tasty, with Cape-Malay flavours showcased in a menu whose high point is surely the delicious Oude Werf Trio – a dish of braised oxtail, mini bobotie (spiced mince meat and baked-egg topping) and a mini chicken pie with caramelised sweet potato. Naturally, it’s all paired with the very best regional wines.
