In more detail

You'll be ensured a personal and intimate stay at Arctic Wilderness Lodge, with just 24 rooms throughout. The emphasis is on quality, whether you choose the river rooms, river suites or one of the premium suites. Indeed, with the enviable location of the lodge undoubtedly stealing the show here, all rooms and suites boast panoramic windows extending from floor to ceiling and a private deck, allowing front-row views of the spectacular nature – from the river and forests to local wildlife – which surrounds the lodge, as well as a chance to view the Northern Lights and endless summer nights in complete comfort. Expect bespoke natural wood interiors akin to a Nordic log cabin, beautifully contrasting the elegantly designed contemporary bathrooms. Away from the rooms, the hotel's lounge, restaurant and bar area catch the eye, with delicate features and high glass façades bringing you closer to the nature.

Arctic Wilderness Lodge has elevated the gastronomy of northern Norway to another level. Start with a gourmet breakfast buffet at Lavvu Restaurant, consisting of a wide spread of Norwegian offerings make with local ingredients alongside home-made bread. Then for dinner, and influenced by the change of the Arctic seasons, the open kitchen at Maku Restaurant allows guests to witness talented chefs bring together the finest ingredients from nature's larder to create fine dining culinary feasts.

With the lodge open throughout the seasons, unique activities can be experienced all year round. The extended daylight hours of summer lure guests to explore the remote surroundings by UTV, enjoy riverboat cruises over the Alta River and hike locally marked trails – particularly fruitful under the Midnight Sun. The winter months open up the chance to head out into the nature with a team of huskies on a sled ride, hunt the elusive Northern Lights or explore the wilderness by leisurely snowshoes or the thrill of a snowmobile ride. And for when the only thing left to do is to kick back, unwind and rejuvenate, choose from a sauna, jacuzzi or the brand-new spa which provides premium pampering within the lodge.
