The rooms here are a particular delight, all muted colour schemes and thoughtful designer touches, all subtle nods to the hotel’s Lapland location. We’re big fans of the Deluxe Doubles, not least for their elegant glass walls and giant photographic prints by lnature photographer, Kaisa Sirén. Large windows also let in plenty of light, as well as some wonderful views. If you’re after a bit more space, however, then look to the loft rooms with their mezzanine level space ideal for a couple of kids, or the Deluxe Suites, which come complete with a private balcony and sauna.
Casual fine dining is the name of the game at the hotel’s excellent Kekäle Restaurant, where traditional ingredients are given a modern twist to create contemporary menus that change with the seasons. The restaurant itself is just as enticing, particularly with its open grill where the chefs prepare some dishes over sizzling charcoal. There’s also the option for something more casual at Akhu Restautrant & Kitchen, where you can stock up after a day in the wilds on classic pizzas and juicy burgers.
