Experience the very best of a Lapland winter with this luxury escape to Wilderness Hotel Nangu – a chic, adults-only retreat on the frozen shores of Lake Inari. During your stay, you can expect the very best in regional food, Lappish hospitality and, of course, wilderness adventure, as you savour Arctic-inspired full-board dining alongside a host of included activities. Your holiday starts with a flight to Ivalo (via Helsinki). Then, on arrival, you’ll transfer out to your log-cabin home – a stylish adult’s only retreat on the shores of beautiful Lake Inari, frozen over by winter’s chill. Once you’ve settled in, and perhaps treated yourself to a sauna, head to the restaurant for the first of your included meals – a hearty Arctic inspired dinner, showcasing some of the region’s superb local produce. Finally, retire to your room, keeping an eye on the sky for your first glimpse of the Northern Lights.

Your first day in the Arctic begins with a hearty breakfast, the ideal fuel for the first of your included excursions – a snowmobile adventure through the Inari wilderness. After some expert tuition, you’ll strike out along snow-laden forest trails and across the frozen lake, pausing along the way to enjoy hot drinks and lunch cooked over an open fire. It all makes for a truly exhilarating adventure and a memorable first day, which culminates with dinner back at base, followed by a trip out to a remote aurora camp.
Here, far from any light pollution, you’ll be treated to more delicious fireside refreshments as your expert guides shares stories of life north of the Arctic Circle and you keep your eyes peeled for signs of the Northern Lights.

The thrills continue today with an Arctic classic – a husky safari. It all begins with a transfer over to Nellim, where you’ll meet your eager team and learn the art of mushing. Then, taking control of your pack – one driver, one passenger – you’ll set off along frozen trails, the yaps of the pups replaced by the soft patter of paws on snow.
There’s nothing quite like it, as your expert guide leads you right out into the surrounding nature, finally leading you back to Nellim where you’ll enjoy an included Arctic lunch. Then, in the afternoon, it’s time to head back to Nangu for an afternoon of relaxation and another included dinner.

Your final full day sees you head out once more, but this time under your own stem – on a pair of snowshoes. With your guide setting an easy pace, you’ll explore a network of hidden trails that criss-cross between boreal forest and treeless fells, even stopping half-way to tuck into a tasty campfire lunch.
With all that, and your guide’s expert knowledge of the region, this is a true appreciation of the beauty of Nangu’s natural world. Your day then ends back at the lodge, for some fireside relaxation, a warming sauna, a final included dinner and once last chance to spot the Northern Lights.

"What I really love about this itinerary is it's blend of adventure and relaxation. It really is the best of both worlds, with a raft of included excursions, paired with superb dining and the chance to relax fireside in one of Finnish Lapland's finest wilderness lodges. That's alongside the fact that, during winter, it's strictly for adults, offering big kids the chance to let off some steam, or simply unwind, with the little ones left safely at home."
