COMO The Treasury is a fabulous reworking of the venerable and imposing buildings that were once the Treasury, the Lands and Titles office and the General Post Office. In more detail

Prince Charles opened COMO The Treasury on a state visit. One can only assume he appreciated the neo-classical façade and how historical details have been lovingly retained or sympathetically restored. The ceilings soar, cathedral like, and light floods in through immense windows. The atmosphere has probably changed a bit since the 1800’s and is decidedly dedicated to high jinks, not least in the swimming pool that stretches the length of a rooftop with views of Perth at either end.

The décor too, is contemporary chic, with understated colours interspersed with statement art throughout, including the impressive bedrooms. The 48 rooms are individual in shape, crafted to fit the original walls. Heated stone floors line bathrooms with freestanding baths and waterfall showers.

Situated as it is by the Swan River and at the very centre of all things Perth, excursions to the waterfront and shopping malls are easy. Guests hurry back though, to indulge in the massages and myriad treatments at the spa; or to sample the varied dining options. There are seven of these, all serving exceptional food, even by Australian standards. The rooftop restaurant is the pinnacle, with fine dining based on locally sourced produce.
