Set within a beautifully renovated former post office building dating back to 1912, Villa Copenhagen is steeped in Neo-Baroque architectural heritage and a sense of timeless elegance. It’s ideally situated for exploring the Danish capital, too, with both the historical centre and the trendy, post-industrial Vesterbro neighbourhood practically on its doorstep. When you’re not out and about exploring, the heated outdoor pool is a delightful relaxation spot. The food and drink scene, meanwhile, is outstanding, including a brasserie restaurant, an artisan bakery and a stylish courtyard bar.

In more detail

Villa Copenhagen is much more than just a place to stay; it’s also a meeting place for locals, an events space and a dining venue rolled into one. The building, which once served as the headquarters of the Danish postal service, has been converted into a truly luxurious 21st century hotel that seamlessly blends contemporary design with the original Neo-Baroque features. It’s just a few steps away from Copenhagen Central Station and Tivoli Gardens, and within walking distance of many of the city’s top attractions.

Expect homely rooms fitted with sleek Danish furnishings, free Wi-Fi access, speakers, TVs, mini bars and heated bathroom floors. Some are particularly cosy, with exposed timber beams and sloped ceilings, while the deluxe rooms have free-standing bathtubs and spacious lounge areas. For even more space and unique design touches, consider booking one of the suites.

While Copenhagen is blessed with a vast array of outstanding restaurants, you may well be tempted to dine in, such is the quality of Villa Copenhagen’s culinary offering. Brasserie Kontrast serves exquisite dishes with a strong focus on locally sourced, seasonal and organic ingredients, while T37 is a more casual venue for craft beers, cocktails and sharing plates. The glass-ceilinged courtyard bar is an equally fine spot for a drink or a bite to eat at any time of the day. And of course, the buffet breakfast spread is extensive, featuring fresh bread and pastries from the on-site Rug Bakery.

After a day exploring the city, there’s no better way to unwind than taking a dip in the 25-metre outdoor pool, which is heated to between 28-30 degrees using excess heat from the hotel’s cooling systems. There’s a sauna and a well-equipped fitness centre, too.
