The first luxury sleeper train in England & Wales

Debuting in July 2025, the exceptional Britannic Explorer introduces a brand new chapter of luxury rail travel in Britain. At the heart of the experience is a celebration of all things British, whether that's in the on board décor which showcases timeless rail heritage, the visionary farm-to-fork fine dining which champions contemporary British gastronomy or the quintessentially British regions visited. And, with facilities ranging from its thoughtfully designed suites to the elegant bar and even an on board wellness suite, it's not hard to see why its introduction is highly anticipated. Below, we bring to life the Britannic Explorer, breaking down the on board spaces and giving an insight into what to expect from a journey aboard this luxury train.

The journeys & experiences

The Britannic Explorer will depart from London Victoria on a choice of three evocative routes, offering a unique perspective on undiscovered Britain, connecting cities and market towns, countryside landscapes, and organic farmlands. Each three-night journey will take in a slice of Britain's beauty, from the ethereal charm of the Lake District and the far reaches of Cornwall's rugged coastline, to deepest Snowdonia and the rolling hills of the Cotswolds. As the Britannic Explorer weaves in and out of scheduled stops along the route, guests will have the opportunity to explore the UK's picturesque countryside on a series of carefully curated excursions. Between the itineraries, such excursions as hiking adventures in Snowdonia National Park, guided open-water swimming in the Lake District or immersive boat tours off the Cornish coast are available. Guests looking for more a low-energy affair can find private art gallery tours or relaxing lawn games among the offerings. Each experience showcases the charm and character of its destination.

The Suites

The Britannic Explorer offers two levels of luxury accommodation on board – Suites and Grand Suites. The 15 Suites are spread across four sleeper cars, 11 of which are configured with double beds, four with twin beds. Bathed in plenty of natural light, their clever design maximises space, transitioning seamlessly from daytime lounge to nighttime slumber. By day, relax on the plush sofa-bed, admiring the passing scenery. As evening descends, your steward transforms the space into a comfortable bed. Additional amenities include wardrobes, a marble vanity with mirror, a luxurious ensuite bathroom with shower and 24-hour dedicated steward service.

The three Grand Suites are all housed in one sleeper car, each with a unique theme inspired by British botanicals Juniper, Valerian and Elder. The design of each reflects the palette of their namesakes, with rich reds, mellow greens and soft blue tones adorning each space. All Grand Suites come with a double bed, ample wardrobe space, an in-suite dining table (in-cabin dining is on request) and a luxurious marble-clad ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. Guests can benefit from a personal butler service in the Grand Suites, with the added benefit of one complimentary spa treatment included per journey.

On board facilities

An intimate journey, The Britannic Explorer welcomes a maximum of just 36 discerning guests per journey. This exclusivity ensures a truly personalised experience, where every detail is tailored to your desires. This extends to the intimate on board dining experience in one of two dining cars, Malva or Samphire, each enhanced by inviting details such as woven rattan panels, antique mirrored ceilings and floral lights. The visionary 3-Michelin star chef Simon Rogan's farm-to-fork philosophy is at the heart of every dish. Each of the three routes will feature bespoke afternoon tea, lunch and dinner menus, highlighting the finest local specialties to ensure every meal is a true celebration of Britain’s bountiful larder.

The Observation Car is the social heart of the train, and the perfect place to relax and mingle after dinner. The Bar – located in the Observation Car – allows guests to indulge in innovative, botanically inspired cocktails, each a masterpiece of mixology. Also on offer are a carefully curated selection of artisan gins and craft beers, a celebration of the UK’s finest independent distilleries and breweries. As with all meals aboard the train, beverages including alcoholic drinks are inclusive as part of every journey. By evening, the space transforms into a scene of enduring glamour, where music and champagne set the tone for a grand black-tie gala celebrating the essence of British elegance.

Then, when you're in need of a touch of relaxation and rejuvenation, the stylish wellness suite, located in one of the sleeping cars, is the perfect remedy. Expert therapists offer a range of massages and facials, designed to relieve stress, promote relaxation and restore vitality.
