Appearing out of the landscape like something out of a dream, the cutting-edge Clos Apalta Residence has just four sumptuous, detached casitas that are burrowed into the forested hillside overlooking the immaculate rows of vines. The suites are named after the wines produced in the region and are stylishly furnished and decorated in hues inspired by the varietals that form the blend of Clos Apalta. Inside expect vaulted ceilings, gorgeous bathrooms with a view, natural silks, leather and highly-polished native woods, while outside private wraparound terraces make the most of the magnificent valley views. The Residence houses the lounge and dining areas, as well as a wine tasting room.
Outside there’s a splendid cactus-edged infinity pool with plush loungers, and wicker tub chairs and cushioned banquettes are set in a convivial arrangement. The wines are the stimulus for the gastronomic experience at Clos Apalta Residence and expert chefs create seasonal menus that highlight the natural flavours of Chile using organic vegetables from the lodge’s garden and fresh produce from local markets. Activities at the lodge naturally centre around the wine. Specially designed wine tours are available for the novice and the more experienced, with visits to Clos Apalta and the other wineries in the area to learn the secrets of the Colchagua Valley. Guests can also explore over 650 hectares of organic and biodynamic vineyards either on horseback or mountain bike; there is also excellent hiking in the wild, arboreal hillsides. Gentler pursuits include massages and yoga sessions in your casita, or swimming in the warmer months.
