In more detail

Along charming walkways you'll find your private wood-and-stone-clad log cabin, and given the location, it’s well worth nabbing a lake-view room. If you'd prefer a sense of seclusion, the luxury signature cabins are particularly special, with stone fireplaces, modern kitchens and private dining spaces with barbecues, scattered around the area with an assortment of glorious views.

When it comes to dining, Fairmont, unsurprisingly, doesn’t disappoint. After the likes of blueberry and mascarpone pancakes and fresh smoked salmon boards for breakfast, come evening the ORSO Trattoria turns its hand to Italian specialties with locally-farmed ingredients. Alternatively, look to the chic sushi bar of Oka or The Moose’s Nook Chophouse, where bison tartare and house-cured gravlax are followed by such delights as wild boar and Albacore tuna. It’s best washed down among the chandeliers and stone cladding of the Emerald Lounge by the roaring fire – or out on the patio for whiling summer evenings. In-room dining is a rather special option too, with a personal picnic basket delivered to your cabin and “cook your own” BBQ options to indulge on your personal veranda.

It's hard to decide which season comes up trumps here, though the snow-blanketed winter scenery certainly provide a magical backdrop for myriad adventures, from skating and curling on Lake Mildred to tobogganing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. When summer rears its head for a few glorious months, there’s chances to hop on a mountain bike or head out hiking or horse riding, or take to the water with fly-fishing, paddle-boarding or canoeing on Beauvert Lake. As if that wasn’t enough, the award-winning golf course – ranked number one in Canada – is just steps away, complete with BBQs, drinks carts and their famous hotdogs available at two areas around the course.

As is somewhat customary with a Fairmont property, the spa is top-notch – the stone-clad features and log-stacked walls giving a nod to your alpine surroundings. Expect everything from mountain wellness treatments to glacial massages, alongside a mountain-framed outdoor heated pool and Jacuzzi.
