Tuck into a generous buffet breakfast this morning before setting off on a thrilling snowmobile ride in the company of a local guide. You’ll zip along trails that wind through the snow-laden forests, across frozen lakes and out on to the frozen sea, where an archipelago of more than 1,300 islands becomes locked in ice throughout the winter months. As you navigate this mesmerising landscape, you’ll hear stories about the region’s nature, history and culture. A hot lunch is then served by a campfire – the perfect way to round off your tour.
Following a relaxing afternoon back at the lodge, you’ll then embark on a nighttime snowshoe hike through the nearby forests in search of the Northern Lights. Your guide will tell you all about the science behind this awe-inspiring natural phenomenon and how to take the best photographs. While you wait for the aurora to make an appearance, you’ll be served hot drinks beside a roaring fire, followed by a delicious wilderness dinner. With a little luck regarding the solar activity and cloud cover, you’ll return to the lodge filled with wonder having witnessed a spectacular display of the Northern Lights dancing majestically across the night sky.

Today begins with another exhilarating adventure: husky sledding. You’ll head to a nearby kennel to meet an energetic team of huskies and learn the basics of ‘mushing’ before you and your partner take control of your own sled and set off along a trail that winds between snow-laden forests and frozen lakes. It’s a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the region’s pristine nature and to experience a traditional mode of transport which has been used in the Arctic for thousands of years. Back at the lodge, enjoy private use of a wood-fired sauna and a Jacuzzi, relaxing in true Scandinavian style. Your final evening at Brändön Lodge is a special one as you set out by sleigh ride on to the frozen Bothnian Bay to the Aurora Hideaway, where you’ll be served a candlelit dinner in a truly magical setting, accompanied by a crackling fire and your choice of wine or beer. After your first course, you’ll have time to look outside for the Northern Lights while your main course is skilfully prepared over an open fire. The evening culminates with a hot drink and a sumptuous dessert before returning to the lodge with memories to last a lifetime.
