Highlights

  • An exclusive resort overlooking a world-class golf course
  • Access to a private beach club
  • Superb dining at a range of venues, from fine-dining to afternoon teas
  • One of Portugal's finest spas
  • A range of exciting experiences to help you explore

Experience Anantara’s signature brand of authentic luxury at this super-stylish resort, tucked away in a secluded location on Portugal’s sun-kissed Algarve coast. And, while it looks right out over the immaculate greens and fairways of the Portuguese Masters’ golf course – itself reached by a private tunnel – there’s also plenty in the way of Mediterranean charm to enjoy. Spend one day taking in Roman ruins overshadowed by sprawling olive groves and local wineries, while the next you might take the complimentary shuttle to the resort’s exclusive beach club, where you’ll have the chance to relax on pristine sands while enjoying local delicacies served from the pool-side restaurant. You can also ask to be brought to Vilamoura’s nearby marina where fine-dining restaurants rub shoulders with trendy bars. All told, it’s a wonderfully indulgent affair.

In more detail

Together, the hotel’s sculptures, paintings and installations make for a gallery of Portuguese artwork that extends into each of the 280 rooms and suites. All also come with a private balcony, complete with daybed to make the most of the Portuguese sun and views of the gardens or golf course. Back inside, you’ll be treated to a pillow menu, Nespresso coffee machine and an open bathroom, its rain shower and soaking tub hidden by sliding blonde timber. What’s more, as with the pools, the resort is split into two wings, providing space for both couples and families.

The dining is equally considered, starting with breakfast where fresh fruits and just-squeezed juices share the menu with made-to-order waffles and indulgent baked treats; the gooey custard tarts are a particular delight. It’s a delicious way to start the day, but the gourmet journey doesn’t end there. The resort’s signature Emo Restaurant stands out, with inventive, degustation menus paired with some 350 sommelier-curated wines.

Alternatively, relax with some afternoon tea or Portuguese tapas accompanied by golf-course views before heading poolside for a gourmet snack and glass of something bubbly from the champagne cabana. Naturally, for this region of Portugal, there’s also a superb seafood restaurant where the chef cooks up the catch of the day in the show kitchen.

But that’s not all. If you can tear yourself away from the food and drink, you’ll be treated to a full range of world-class amenities. Choose between three delightful pools, improve your serve on the tennis court or work off some calories in the state-of-the art gym. Whatever you do, don’t miss out on the spa, with its wide range of treatments and highly trained therapists. It’s all complemented by a number of experiences designed to help you explore, from horse rides, dolphin cruises and visits to local markets to terrace-side yoga, cooking classes and golf clinics. Travelling as a family? You’ll be delighted to know that children are equally well catered for, with a full complement of activities led by industry-leading professionals.
