In more detail

Elegantly designed in muted shades of blue and gold, each room, at every level, is sprawling – reminiscent of a stately-home suite. Alongside luxe fabrics, panelled walls, dark-wood furnishings and marble bathrooms, there are private patios in almost every suite that offer views of the tropical gardens or Caribbean coastline.

For refined dining look to signature restaurant L’Acajou, the likes of yellowfin tuna tartare and wagyu beef served from an ultra-fresh, seasonal menu. For something more laid-back, beachside Bajan Blue is an exciting amalgamation of European, Caribbean and Asian fare – perhaps sample one of the many varietals on offer at the stylish wine bar before heading for the sushi station, and don’t miss one of their famous Sunday Brunches for ultra-fresh seafood and enormous dessert platters. The Country Club offers light leisurely lunches with sweeping golf course views, whilst the tree-shaded Lower Terrace offers daily afternoon tea alongside an array of stylish, elegant bars.

Sandy Lane is almost synonymous with golf. With three renowned courses – including the world-famous Green Monkey, carved from an old stone quarry and exclusive to Sandy Lane guests – all framed by ocean views, it's well worth taking an afternoon to tee off here. The spa is another must-visit – introduced by a sweeping marble staircase adorned with chandeliers – with a huge array of treatments and massages like aromatherapy facials and sugar cane scrub wraps on offer. If you're travelling with children, the excellent Treehouse Kid's Club ensures they don't miss out on everything Sandy Lane has to offer, from golf and tennis to water sports and the beach.
