Rooms are decked out in a classic country style and offer delightful views across the gardens, lawns or lake from private terraces or secluded courtyards. There are all the usual mod cons, of course, but the real joy here is sitting outside with glass of wine simply enjoying the peace and quiet.
This is a region well known for its food and wine, and Cape Lodge is regarded as one of the best places in Margaret River to sample it. Indeed, the restaurant is among the finest in Western Australia, with its menus of French-inspired country fare that provide a stunning showcase for fresh, local and seasonal produce. Expect the likes of Wagyu beef sourced from local suppliers and catch-of-the-day fish and mussels fresh from the ocean. It’s all seasoned with herbs from the lodge’s own garden and perfectly paired with the finest local wines – Margaret River is one of Australia’s finest wine-producing regions.
To work off all of that food and drink, there are a number of activities that really make the most of the local surroundings. Head out on a guided coastal walk between rugged cliffs and sandy bays, enjoy a sailing trip in beautiful Geographe Bay or join a horseback ride along pretty forest trails. Then, perhaps indulge with a sunset cruise, or learn more about the rich variety of local produce on a cookery course or vineyard tour complete with tasting. If all that sounds too much, simply unwind by the pool, or relax with a massage or facial at the treatment room.
